Auralite-23, also known as Red Cap Amethyst, is a very rare blend of crystals and one of Earth’s oldest minerals; estimated to have formed around 1.2 - 1.5 billion years ago. The only locality in existence is the place of its initial discovery, north of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. Auralite-23 was only recently discovered and pushed onto the mineral market within the last 20 years, making it one of the newest and fastest selling crystals in the 21st century so far. The name is derived from the “23” minerals that are contained within the chemical composition of the stone (the main being an Amethyst base with inclusions within).
